Affiliated Dentists’ Free Consultation
Zoom is a popular bleaching treatment used to correct tooth discoloration from smoking, food, beverages, and aging. Zoom lightens teeth shades whiter in a simple one-hour treatment.
The procedure employs a chairside light, which activates a twenty-five percent hydrogen peroxide whitening gel in order to bleach teeth. As the hydrogen peroxide breaks down, oxygen is introduced into the enamel and dentin. The oxygen bleaches the stained surfaces without harming the integrity of the tooth. Learn more about the science behind tooth whitening.
At our Affiliated Dentists offices, we provide a free consultation to see if your teeth can handle the intensity of sudden bleaching. Our dentists will check your teeth, gums, overall health, existing dental work, and future planned dental procedures to see if Zoom is the best whitening option for you.
What Happens During Zoom Teeth Whitening?
After first covering your gums and lips, a hydrogen peroxide whitening gel is then applied to your teeth and the Zoom light is turned on for fifteen minutes as you relax. This process is repeated three times for a total of forty-five minutes of light activation treatment. Afterward, a fluoride gel is applied to reduce tooth sensitivity.
What Kind of Results Can I Expect?
Zoom can turn teeth up to eight shades whiter. Individual results may vary, however, based on diet and lifestyle choices, age, and genetics.
Are There Any Drawbacks?
Some people may be sensitive to the subtle heat of the Zoom lamp. In rare instances, post-procedure tingling may occur but subsides quickly thereafter. Toothpaste for sensitive teeth may be used.
Zoom isn’t recommended for children under thirteen or pregnant or nursing women. The procedure also won’t brighten dental devices, such as crowns and veneers. If you have additional concerns or questions, we will address them during the free consultation.
